During our second live shiur, which took place on Sunday, June 14th, 2020, we looked at a phrase which appears in the last Mishnah of Masechet Keritot. There the Mishnah seems to state a law regarding honoring one’s father and mother equally, but then says, “aval amru chachamim…” – “but the Sages said…” amending the law to give preference to the father.
We looked at a number of different examples of this phrase in the Mishnah and Talmud, in order to try and better understand its meaning and implication.
Feedback from the shiur is always welcome!
